How will my car insurance My boyfriend and I got into an
accident, where he was at
fault. Although he was the
driver, the car's mine and I'm
insured under it. I have
already filed an insurance
claim and I'm getting an
appraisal right now. The car
had extreme damage to the
front (hood crushed, bumper
torn out, headlights busted,
grille pushed in, radiator
cracked, and antifreeze liquid
leeking out). The car is a
2006 Toyota Avalon w/ 24,000
miles on it. Is it possible
that it's totaled?

Since the car is in your name, and he was driving it with your permission, the claim will be made to your insurance, since insurance follows the vehicle, and not the driver. It is very possible that your car is totalled, there could be more damage that you don't know about under the hood, or in the frame or suspension. The vehicle and injurys will be handled like this: The vehicles damage will be handled under collission coverage, you'll be compensated for the damages to the vehicle, and it will be repaired, or if its totalled, they will pay the loss-payee if there is one first, and then you, all payouts will be minus your deductible. The injurys for your boyfriend will be handled under your medical payments coverage, and if it exceeds that amount, it should be covered by the bodily injury coverage. Your injurys will only be covered by the medical payments coverage, and if it exceeds, you'll have to pay the rest, or claim it with medical insurance if you have it. Any other questions, phone your insurance agent, he/she can help. A site I've recommended in the past would be... http://www.safelinked.info/go. php?link=insurance Hope that helps. |

What's the difference between I was with the same insurance
company for 10 years using the
same local agent. My car
insurance rates kept going up
every time my policy was
renewed. I decided to explore
and see what better rates I
could get with other car
insurance companies. Friends
and family gave me names of
local agents from insurance
companies they used. All the
agents quoted me really high.
Then, I called a major
insurance company's 800 number
(not through an agent) and got
the lowest quote. So, why do
people use insurance agents?
Is there a reason why it's
better to use an agent?

In addition to what a-mac said; if you have a claim but you are unsure if it is covered you can discuss it with your agent without submitting it to the company. (Companies do not like this - fyi) If you call the company, and it turns out there is no payout on the claim it will count against you and you will probably see a change in your rates. Remember: you get what you pay for. There is one company that has an 800 number that I would be extremely cautious with... |

How much is car insurance for I heard that car insurance is
pretty expensive for older
muscle cars, and I'd like to
know around how much a month
car insurance would be for a
1968 ford mustang?

I depends on what you plan to do with they car. If it's a daily driver you'll be stuck with liability, which is cheap. If you want classic car insurance you insure to the cars value and they limit your driving. |

How do I find out my cars car Insurance companys give cars a
rating number to determine if
one type of car pays more
insurance then the other.
Where can I find out what the
number of my car would be?

no company is gonna give that to you...then youll know how they rate you...i work for an insurance company and we are STRICTLY prohibited form revealing your cars rating system...i can tell you this...think about logically...a new 2007 BENZ is going to be more expansive than a 1982 Civic (logic)...an SUV/truck can cause more damage than a reg 4 door sedan/coupe (2 vehicles are traveling at 50 mph, one weighs 5 tons, the other weighs 12 tons, they both hit the same car/object. which one wll cause more damage?...you do the math...) so they are more not less expensive to insure...its MOSTLY based on your driving history (tickets and accidents), annual miles driven (liability exposure, more driving=more chances for an accident) driving experience and the vehicle you drive...hope this helps A site I've recommended in the past would be... http://www.knowledged.info/go. php?link=insurance Hope that helps. |

How can I lower my car I have been told that my car
insurance is high because of a
bad credit rating. I am
currently enrolled in a DMP to
pay down some credit cards and
I'm sure this is why it is so
bad. Will any insurance
company work with me to lower
my rate? I currently have
GEICO insurance bc it was the
lowest I could find. I lease
my car and always make my car
and insurance payments on
time.

Isn't it a joke that insurance companies can base your rate on your credit history!! Like, someone with bad credit just has to be a bad driver! This is an issue that needs to be addressed...just doesn't make sense to me where the relation is...anyway, in the meantime...raise your deductable up to $500 or higher, but stash enough extra $ to cover it if you have the need to file...hang in there...in the meantime, hope you have cut up those cards! |
