Car Insurance?
I drove my friends car he has liability insurance. I have full coverage insurance on my car. I got hit by a guy without insurance. Will my insurance cover my friends car I was driving because the other guys car is not going to be paying for anything. Thanks.
You know what? Insurance follows the vehicle and I guarantee you your friend has uninsured motorist coverage under his liability policy. You can even claim injury and collect under his U.M. coverage. It will not cause a rate increase for him IF he gave you permission to drive. Your insurance is considered secondary IF your friend's policy decides not to cover the loss for whatever reason.
Car Insurance?
My fiance does not have his license because he was caught driving without insurance (forgot to pay it!). He has to pay the state a fine (done) and then get an SR-22 and insurance before he can get his license back. How can you get insurance if you do not have a car to get insurance on? (He would be driving vehicles at his job, which is why he needs his license). He can't get insurance on my car with me, because my car is registered in my mother's name and is insured by her, I'm just on her policy. He has to get insurance before he can get his license. So his work insurance for driving vehicles wouldn't work for that because with an SR-22 you have to keep your insurance policy current for 3 years straight. (He is leaving this job in 5 months because we are moving, thus he would be without insurance again when we moved and lose his license again.) I cant see his boss wanting to pay for the extra insurance on him either since it will obviously be high with the SR-22. And I don't think you can buy a car if you don't have a license in the first place?? We can't afford another car and his insurance (because I am sure it will be ALOT! He's male, under 25, and needs an SR-22) We are not yet married. Once we are, we will get on one policy with the car. The insurance company knows where the car is, we had to pay extra for it since I am in another state.
SR-22 has three classifications : Operator's Certificate Owner's Cetificate Operator's-Owner's Certificate His classification would be Operator's Certificate which is for driving a non-owned vehicle. Progressive Insurance is but one of many companies that covers S-22. Good luck.
Car Insurance?
I'm 21 and needless to say full coverage insurance on a male is ridiculous. Allstate want to charge me $450 for coverage on a Sentra!!! I know it's based on stats with young male drivers being in more accidents or speeding or whatever, but I also know different things like being married helps bring it down. I own my own small business and wondering if anyone knew if that would bring down my insurance. The reason for me asking is because when I rent a car at Enterprise there is an extra premium for renters under 25(like a male's insurance dropping at the age of 25), but since I have my own business they allow me to rent it at regular price. Perhaps owning a business shows more responsibility like being married does and lower insurance rates. *Side notes -The car wouldn't be "business" car its still a personal car(but I mainly need it to go to work and school with a little business travel) -I have been driving for 6yrs without any accidents, tickets, and continuously insured. $450/month is more than the car note!!
Just shop around for some quotes. Almost every friend I have that has shopped around for lower rates has gone with Progressive. I'm 24, have full coverage on a Camry and have a few tickets and mine is under $200 a month. They also have excellent claims service!
Car Insurance?
So I got my license the other day I'm 16 turning 17. I don't have a car yet, but I want to drive alone. My mom has a car but my name isin't included in the policy. I heard somewhere that I could still drive the car. Is that true? How much would it cost if my name is added to the car? the car is on AAA Insurance.? . Another question. Im going to be working soon, how much would it cost for a 17 year old to drive his own car with his own insurance, BUT if im added to my DAD's policy.? Oh yeah my dad has i think about 3 cars on his policy. more info. OK. I live in Southern california.(oceanside) 94' 4runner toyota. that car is on his policy already.
You are on your moms policy if you live with her,the insurance will charge you against the most expensive vehicle whether your driving it or not you still live in the same household. There is always that chance you will drive the best car in the house. So their premiums will always go up. Usually if your parents get a sworn affidavid from a magistraite or a judge stating you won't drive their cars [ If you have your own car] and you have your own insurance They might be left to pay their own premiums. There is no cheap way out.there is no better result on your dad's policy.By the way your mom is taking a real chance not telling the insurance co your driving on her policy .when they find out they could drop her ,then insurance could be more the next time she goes for it
car insurance?
I AM BUYING A USED CAR SOON. THIS WILL BE MY FIRST CAR...SO I DON'T KNOW THE PROCESS. MY QUESTION IS WHEN DO I PURCHASE THE CAR INSURANCE? DO I HAVE TO HAVE CAR INSURANCE BEFORE I GET MY CAR FROM THE CAR DEALERSHIP? THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANSWERS
You will need car insurance before you leave the lot. My advice would be to get the car loan first, then go looking for a car.Once you find the car, you can then shop for insurance. One benefit of this is that you will see the total amount that the car will cost you before you actually sign on the dotted line. Please take into consideration the coverage when buying insurance, not just the price. The state minimums will probably not be enough to cover you should you have an accident, so even if you pay a few dollars more per month, you should make sure your liability limits are sufficient. Hope this helps!
