is there a way to reduce theamount of settlement for anRIAA lawsuit?
is it possible if I wish to settle the RIAA lawsuit for an amount lesser than the $3000 as mentioned? Can anyone advise on this? Or is there a way out of it?
They are very strict about their settlement offers..they are not taking less then $3000. There are a number of copywrite infringement lawyers out there that specialize in RIAA lawsuits...you may want to get in touch with them and find out your options.
Does anyone else agree thatthe RIAA is going to end upregretting pursuing copyrighlawsuits in total?
disregard of the our laws? What a joke they are - I think they will finally realize their errors when the supreme court reverses all of the past judgements and he RIAA is sued back to the stone age.
I recently discussed this in another, unrelated answer regarding the boycotting of "out of control" businesses. The RIAA's business practices are questionable at best. Think about it; What business in their right mind would sue prospective customers? Very bad PR to say the least. Already the music industry is suffering from the poor choices of the RIAA. And many musicians are choosing record companies not associated with this entity (wisely I might add). Eventually the will of the people will catch up to companies such as the RIAA. It may take time and some changes to the law. But these changes are way overdue---and the law SHOULD reflect the will of the people in any case (which certain aspects of the copyright laws do not). There is NO DOUBT WHATSOEVER that the music industry (RIAA) will regret their actions. I believe they already have. Revenues are down and it isn't simply because people are downloading music rather than buying it---although that is part of the reason. Had the music industry taken other tactics, they would have been rolling in money and their customers would have been happy with them as well. I mean, think of the advertising venue that went to waste when the music industry shut down the original Napster.
What should I do about an RIAAphone call?
I received two automated phone calls in the past month, one with an area code from my University, and the other with an area code from home. They both were a recorded voice stating that it was the RIAA and that they could sue me for $677,000. Then they told me to leave a message stating my defense. I of course hung up because I wasn't sure what was going on... Has this happened to anybody else? Does anybody know whats going on? I haven't been able to find ANYTHING out...
If you have any movies or cd,music you downloaded get rid of them right away this means that they are watching you.To see how much you are downloading
how can i get out of gettingsued by riaa for illegaldownloading?
i dont know for sure if i am caught, but i heard that they can fine you up to $750,000!! i've downloaded like 1000 songs in the couple years i've had limewire, and i have no money for that. i can barely pay for college, if i could then i would have bought the cds in the first place! i hope RIAA goes to hell. oh yes and apparently they can send you to jail as well.
They usually check up firms and large companies because that's were the profit is being made, usually. If you just use it at home with no intend of selling or making any profit the chances are very low...
Why hasn't the RIAA gone afterMicrosoft for Windows MediaPlayer's ability to rip CDs tomp3s?
I thought maybe they would try since that's probably what a lot of people do to share music. They buy the CD, rip the mp3s, and put them online. How come the RIAA doesn't try to sue Microsoft for that and other companies that have programs that can do that?
RIAA and Microsoft are in bed together
