Should i join Navy at start offiscal year?
I know recruitment is very fast during October and they are usually pretty lenient on the qualifications. Im at 25% BMI and it says i need to be at 22% How much will that matter during october
They don't do waivers for BMI. Besides 3% is not much to loose. Your going to have to pass the PRT (Physical Rediness Test) in basic anyway. Why not head down to the gym now and start getting in shape ?
Anyone know about New ZealandMilitary recruitment?
I'm interested in joining either the Navy or Airforce in New Zealand, probably as helicopter crewman. I have a couple of small tattoos, though they can be covered unless I'm in a bikini! I also have self-inflicted scarring on my left arm. I've been treated for depression and no longer do this to myself. Does anyone know if either of these will keep me out of the New Zealand Military?
As long as the tattoos are covered, they should be fine. For the scarring, you should provide a letter from a psychiatrist that says you are not suicidal, have not been suicidal for several years and you are fit to fly. That should at least get you past the medical & into basic training.
Navy and Marines?
When I first joined the Navy, the recruitment officers were always making fun of the Marines. Why is there bad blood between these two military groups? Is there a historical basis, or did they just decide to pick on each other one day? Or was this just at my recruitment office?
It went on when my father was in, and I dealt with it when I was in the Navy... It is really just a sort of rivalry, like different high schools... Actually, I had many, many Marines as friends after boot, and everyone just seems to tire of the game eventually. We did different kinds of jobs... Now that I am an old man,. I am very thankful for both branches, and realize how much harder it was to be a good Marine than it was to be a good Sailor. The Marines are taught to fight, and they take it to heart, and do a helluva good job. Don't let it worry you, everything comes out in the wash.....
Govt v Navy? Cynical or what?Naval propaganda v Govt spin?
If this MOD U-turn is the result of public outcry of late, as we have seen in the media that the Ministry of Defence as been forced to issue a rapid U-turn to all service personnel from telling thier story to the media in futures, WHY hasn't our previous outcries been heeded such as troops OUT of Iraq? Tony Bliar(sic) out of Office; JUSTICE for the 6 murdered Military Policmen in Iraq .. the list is endless for all other public outcries? Have we the voter actually influenced this AMAZING RAPID U-TURN? Doubt it somehow, but it is a novel experience a politician actually LISTENING to Joe and Jane Public for once.. This is ONE QUESTION that raises MANY QUESTIONS.. The Ministry of Defence work for the Governnment.. so WERE they pushed into making this U-turn.. or Was it a publicity stunt by the Navy to increase future recruitment? http://www.google.co.uk/search ?hl=en&q=6+murdered+military+p olicemen+Iraq&meta= http://search.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bi n/search/results.pl?scope=all& edition=d&q=Blair+should+stand +down+now http://search.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bi n/search/results.pl?q=Withdraw +UK+troops+from+Iraq&scope=all &edition=d&tab=all&recipe=all& x=31&y=12
your guess is as good as mine as this government does a lot of unexplained moves and this is another
Lazy Navy Recruiters Pale InComparison To The ArmyRecruiters I Dealt With, YourThoughts?
I dealt with the same two U.S. Navy Recruiters for 2 months. These guys are pathetic. First off I don't feel all Navy Recruiters are this way-these two were. First thing: They lied about the Navy being the only branch that offers a chance to pursue Culinary. Come on guys, like I don't have a computer to look this up myself! Secondly: My wife and I brought up a past non-physical domestic violence offense I had. I addition-I was a punk in my younger days and had alot of misdemeanors. These guys said "Oh we can't get that waived, nobody can waive that." In addition, before my waiver was even an issue-I would leave 100 messages that were never returned, I waited for my recruiter to pick me up one day to take me to MEPS-he called me 5 days later saying "Oh man, I forgot-it's not personal-I forgot another one too." Army accepted my waivers-and worked hard for me. Now these Navy recruiters are hollering "Go to the Navy". Anyone have any similar recruitment stories? By the way-I will not go to the Navy. I like the discipline and the more physical aspects of the Army more. A personal preference. Additionaly, having recruiters calling me "Dude" and calling women "Bitches" showed zero class. Army recruiters asked me my reasons for wanting the Army, my goals, met my wife and kids. Worked HARD to get me past the waivers. Spoke in a professional manner. These Navy Recruiters reminded me of Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton. Oh! As far as the culinary )cook) I didn't pick that to move up ranks quick! I'm sure some do. It's what I do as a civilan and what I went to school for in high school vocational school. If you can apply what you love to do in the military-might as well do it. I love the military way of life (lng family line of Army and Navy) and I love cooking-makes a good match I think.
AGREED...i'm not going to say that all navy recruiters are "lazy" or whatever, because that would be false, because i have never met all the navy recruiters...and probably never will but this is MY experience... i was in the navy DEP for about 6 months...at our DEP meetings...we went bowling and to applebees to drink...mind you there are all these overweight/ underage kids who need to PT and who are leaving for basic in a month drinking should not be what they are doing...I actually left the navy and joined the marines and the DEP program there is a WORLD of difference PT 2 times a week. we have drill instructors coming in and giving us a "taste" of what book camp is going to be like. we have functions were the county will get together and drill like crazy, a lot of preparation. My father was upset that i "jumped ship" he said that the navy would have more to offer, but i want to be a marine...i always did i just was being a little B1tch and chose to do the easier thing. but i'm like you, i want the discipline of the marine corps...and they're so bada$s. i know so many marines and spent so much time in lejeune i knew more about USMC than i did about the Navy... me and the marine corps were meant to be.
