The reason you cannot find many references to Skuttradite is because the spelling is SKUTTERUDITE. Try Googling again. |

You need to contact one of the tour companies there. I found little about geodes in the area. This link is to a atv trail thats long and they saw some. Payson area has some. You might have to settle for buying some though. But look up Sedona tours and call a few companies about that. They would not be the ones to allow you to leave the tour to hunt but they should know the area and the people there well enough to point you in the right direction. Might I suggest you take the time to visit Montezumas well, this will be one of the many highlights of your vacation. I promise! |

Soak the geod in a glass of water, see if it turns murky. I have never heard of a natural crystal rock (geod) being harmful in water to fish or etc. It may be pretty neat looking underwater with an aquarium light shinning on it. I have geod rocks lining a water pond full of goldfish... I have not had any fish die from the geod. I have seen the fish lay on or next to the geods looking pretty happy. summer.. |

Look up the art of lapidary (rock polishing). One uses a metal wheel that rotates horizontally and various grits (like sandpaper without the paper). Start with a coarse grit and use finer and finer grits until it gets shiny enough. |
