Why aren't home computersbetter for video games? Howcome I have to buy a separatevideo game platform?
In other words, how come video games are so much better on PS3 or XBox or Wii, etc.? Why can't they make equally good games for the computer so that I don't have to have both a computer and a game system?
Because computers are designed to do a variety of things while a platform is designed for one purpose only. They also are designed to run on your HD tv which has a better resolution than the common computer CRT/monitor. The more lines of information you can get on the screen the crisper, clearer the image...its not just processor or bit size. Even if you made a game with the same 128-bit graphics, without a screen that can handle that much info, or renew the monitor lines, it will still look really bad! Attach a PS3 to an old color tv and you will see the quality drop as well. Now why do you have to buy seperate games for each platform? The same reason you have to buy seperate programs for Win & Mac...different languages, different ways of reading the info. You can find "emulators" for some platforms which will allow you to play your disked games on your PC, but the quality is low because of the nature of your computer to do so many things at once whether you know of it or not). PC games rely on your computer to keep certain programs for multiple use so disks don't need to store that data (such as Quicktime, macromedia, etc) - that's why you can have Win/Mac disks...Platform disks need to carry all that information for EACH game, which takes up so much room they couldn't put a second game language on there if they wanted to. Some PC games are switching to DVD formats, in some cases it helps resolution but mostly it just keeps you from having to do the "floppy disk shuffle" but still it would not hold enough information to get more than one platform on them.
How to kick off gamesaddiction and re-focus onstudy for teenagers who havespending years gaming?
Hook on internet games and unwilling to kick off. Peer influence is too great. Must on to be on par. How to turn back or to balance. My kid will not listen to me, as he has his own logic and do not bother much.
Perhaps you can relay to him what happened to me, a game addict: I now have Carpal Tunnel syndrome in both wrists and have to have an operation. I have gained a ton of weight which has made my sore joints hurt even more. Ask him if he doesn't get tired of the boring, repetitive nature of gaming (if you really analyze it). It really makes you stupid, you're not interested in anything else, not even your so-called friends. You must try and offer a better alternative to him. After a while nothing in real life seems as exciting as gaming. I don't quite know what else to say to you. It's a bit like being an alcoholic - you have to want to quit yourself. PS maybe he can just not get anymore pocket money until his grades improve (have the internet connection cut off) and then he won't be able to buy games.
What are some ds games thatare similar to final fantasytype games?
Im talking about either final fantasy 3 types/final fantasy 3ds types. Now I know ff4 is coming out in acouple of weeks but besides that, what are some other games similar to ff or old lunar type games. (i know lunar dragon song, but besides that) and not Pokemon/Digimon type games either even though technically they are similar but not those.
I would suggest Final Fantasy XII: Reventant Wings. It combines the rpg element of Final Fantasy and puts it into an RTS style of gameplay. Also Square Enix came out with a new game called World Ends With You, haven;t tried it yet but it looks promising.
What are some fun games toplay on horseback?
I'm looking for some fun and creative games to play on horseback. I work as a counselor at a horse camp, and I'm hoping to set up some games for the campers to play. The campers are of all ages and experience levels, so I'm hoping to find easy games for the younger kids and some difficult or high-speed/high-intensity ones for the more advanced riders. Or just fun horse-related games in general!
some games that we play on horse back are: -mustangs & cougars: this works best with bigger groups of riders. everyone pairs up in "islands" of two horses and their is one "mustang" and one "cougar". the cougar has to chase the mustang until they get close enough to "tag" them{usually within two feet}. when the cougar tags the mustang, they switch roles. after a few role trades, the current mustang trades off with someone who is part of an island. and, to keep the game fair, the cougar must slowly count to five in between every tag or switch. - Duck, Duck, Goose: simple enough, have everyone pick a spot against the wall, or the outside of the arena if you will, and have the person who's it go around the inside. when they pick a goose, the goose chases them around the arena once, if the person gets passed, they continue their circle and park in the goose's spot as the goose then continues to pick their goose. - Red Rover: have one person circling in between to sides of the arena, have one announcer say which horses to send across and again, the tagging space is about two feet. you can either have one designated "rover" for a certain amount of time, or you can trade off every time someone is tagged. -Bi-wrangler boxes: have two boxes or barells set up at the end of the arena. have one horse at a time go down between the two boxes, around the left one, back through the middle, and then around the right one, and then proceeding home so the next rider can go - Keyhole: set up boxes/barells/cones in the shape of a keyhole. the rider must go down into the keyhole, turn around inside without knocking anything down or stepping out of the hole, and then finishing the relay before their opponent. -Clothes pins: WARNING! I RECCOMEND THAT YOU ONLY PLAY THIS GAME WITH VERY EXPERIANCED RIDERS ONLY!!! This is a fast-paced game that requires enough skill to maneuver tight turns without yanking on the horses. the tagging zone is also much closer. give every rider 5 clothes pins. have them attach them to what they can, their saddles, their clothes but NOT the horses' reins/headstalls. your goal is to end the game with the most pins. the tagging range for this game is about 6 inches to one foot, so again, EXPERIANCED riders only please. this is a very dangerous game if played incorrectly. if you would like to hear of more games, because i have A LOT just shoot me an e-mail and i would be more than happy to share them with you. :] hailey_sweet13@yahoo.com
