What are the effects of have a I am very concerned for my
boyfriend who has a cyst on
one of his testicles. We don't
know for sure if that's what
it is, but we looked it up in
a medical book and that's what
it concluded. The only
sypmtoms he has is that one of
his testicles is larger than
the other, and it hurts worse
to be hit in that particlar
testicle. What should we do?
He really doesn't want to see
a doctor.

He needs to see his doctor. Already you expressed enough anxiety about this. The only way to know for sure what is going on and if concern is needed is: SEE HIS DOCTOR. Other wise you both are gambling, when this is something you should NOT gamble with at all. It could be something as simple as a cyst w/sperm in it. Easily cared for - or it could be something far more serious ... See? Only his doctor is going to be able to give him the answer he NEEDS - Guessing games are not good and that is all you both are doing now: GUESSING ... |

How will I know when my Ihave a 2cm ovarian cyst. Go
back for a ultra sound in a
few weeks to watch it. Its
very painful and I am off work
so I am wondering when I will
know or what I will feel when
it ruptures if at all.

Pain. Intense pelvic pain. When one of mine ruptured, I couldn't even move. Luckily it only lasts for about 30 minutes depending on the cyst. You'll know! It felt like everything in that general area seized. My vagina, cervix, uterus, ovaries and even my rectum. If you start feeling this, take some ibuprophen, sit and wait for the pain to subside. I had some nausea as well. My nurse told me she's had women who have had to pull off the highway because it was so intense. I don't want to scare you, but just prepare you. Another thing - it's a good idea to inform your doctor after you think it's ruptured, they'll want to get you in for an ultrasound. |

What happens after you How much time are you unable
to do your regular activities
(work, school, etc.)? I think
it is not a very dangerous or
complicated procedure but I am
still scared. I don't even
know why I got this thing, but
it is near my lower back, on
my tailbone. I want to know
what happens after you
surgically remove this cyst?
What are the risks? Is it
dangerous? Will it come back?

i was 16 when i had mine removed and was back to chool within 2 and a haf weeks, the main reason for that ws the need for it 2 be dressed daily by my nurse and of course some discomfort with sitting. i was scared before i had mine but all went ok, nothing to worry about!! wen its removed they fill the wound (its left open 2 heal inside out) with gauze which is changed daily and covered with a large mesh plaster. no real risks, its a relatively common procedure as i was told, done 3/4 times a month by my surgeon. can come back, depends on how prone you are to experiencing them but is uncommon for them to return if area is kept clean and excuse this but relatively hair free as ingrown hairs are the main cause!! hope this helps and really theres no need to woory, coming from a now 17yo girl! chekc out www.pilondial.org, that should help |

One of my koi fish has a white The cyst is rather large,
about a quarter inch on a six
inch fish. None of the others
have anything like it. There
are about 30 fish living in a
small space, four large ones
(nearly a foot) and the rest
between four and six inches.

What's the difference between I had a pilonidal cyst on my
tailbone and a sebaceous cyst
on my private area. Both were
quite painful! How do docs
make the distinciton between
the two? It seems like both
are caused by roughly the same
thing, so what is the
difference?

"Schwinn" already gave you a pretty good explanation. A pilonidal cyst often but not always develops in the sacral region of the skin. The sacrum is the large, triangular bone that makes up the back of your pelvis. Pilonidal cysts sometimes appear at birth as a depression or a hairy dimple. Usually this type of cyst causes no problems but sometimes a sinus or fistula develops in early adulthood. The sinus or fistula may communicate with the skin and result in infection. A fistula may also develop to the spinal tract. Sebum is the oily secretion of the sebaceous glands of the skin and is composed of keratin, fat and cellular debris. Sebaceous cyst is the same as an epidermoid cyst. It's benign and is in the skin (epidermis). It contains a cheesy material composed of sebum and epithelial debris. They can usually be distinguished by location and appearance. |
