What are the differentdecorations used for Belly orIndian dance?
For belly dance, is there any other decorations used apart from the usual Gold or silver coins?
Belly dance has many different costuming elements and many different costumes based on it's different styles. In fact the coin costumes are generally among the least authentic and in many cases the least interesting. For nightclub/cabaret styles the costuming usually consists of a two piece bedlah (suit) which is frequently covered in beads and sequins with lots of draping fringe along the bust and the entire bottom of the belt. The same types of clasifications can be broke down among the more folkloric styles as well. Such as the Saaidi, baladi, hagala, etc... This is in no way a complete guide to costuming just a very brief post to explain the differences between the costuming of bellydance and Indian dance. Indian costuming is quite different from this. The closest is that of Bollywood/Bhangara style dances. Sometimes Tribal Style Bellydancers will use these costuming elements as well. http://dances.iloveindia.com/c lassical-dances/bharatanatyam. html http://dances.iloveindia.com/c lassical-dances/kathak.html http://dances.iloveindia.com/c lassical-dances/kathakali.html http://dances.iloveindia.com/c lassical-dances/kuchipudi.html http://dances.iloveindia.com/c lassical-dances/manipuri.html http://dances.iloveindia.com/c lassical-dances/mohiniattam.ht ml http://dances.iloveindia.com/c lassical-dances/odissi.html I don't know much about the different indian dance styles and costuming so I included these links to pages which have a picture and some basic information which you could use to further search various indian costumes if you wished.
What are good dance moves toslim the belly?
Like belly dance moves? I'm just trying to slim down, not build abs. I tried hunching my shoulders and then shoulders back. I did that back and forth. PLEASE HELP! And excersizes for the inside of a thigh!
Did you know that excess weight is not constantly thanks to excess fat? There can be a great deal of extra weight simply sitting around in the pipes. The latest diet supplement can cleanse the pipes and help you to shed up to twenty lbs, very often from the waistline (show me an individual who does not want to shed some inches from their waistline LOL!!). There is a risk free trial available at http://dumert.besthealthpro.in fo I've been using it for 3 weeks now and it's definitely working!!
What is the appropriate age tostart learning belly dance?
i'm indian and i want my daughter to learn about her culture. she will be going to a middle eastern dance teacher to learn raqs sharqi (the artistic style of belly dance). i started dancing at 12 but she's almost 15 now.
barco, don't be ignorant. Belly dancing is primarily artistic, and while it can be *sensual*, there is a vast difference between sensual and sexual. I think that the earlier the better - learning dance will help her understand her body better, become more coordinated, give her a focus (something better to do than just "hanging out"), and will probably be good for her self-esteem, too! While I am not a great dancer by any stretch of the imagination, I'll still put on Tarkan or some Turkish music the woman leaves out and dance with my 1 1/2 year old daughter... its never too early to dance or sing - pretty cheap hobbies, too! =) So I think its a great idea - she'll learn about her culture, she'll have an artistic outlet, and its something that she can take with her for the rest of her life if she becomes interested in it. When my daughter is old enough (6? 8? 10? 12?), if I have the means and ability to do it, I completely support her taking belly-dancing classes... she is only one-quarter Turkish, but it is an important part of her heritage, and I firmly intend for her to understand where she's come from and to be proud of who she is! What is the best dvd to buy tolearn how to belly dance?
Lately i've decided to learn how to belly dance as i have always done modern hip hop and street dancing and i want to try something new, i was just wondering what is the best dvd to buy which could help me learn how to belly dance from the very beginning. 10 points for the best answer!!
I would personally recommend taking a bellydance class, but since you have a dance background you should be fine with a DVD. I like any of the Bellydance Superstars' DVD's by their many dancers: Ansuya, Petite Jamilla, Jillina, Bozenka, Rachel Brice, Sonia, Rania, Suhaila Salimpour, Amar Gamal, and many others. Some others I've used were by Amira Mor, Cory Zamora, and a few Tribal bellydance dvd's. They were all good, but since I was taking a class I rarely watched them. I recently did a seminar with Virginia, and she said she has DVD's coming out soon, although I can't find any online, so I guess they're not out yet. She is a fantastic dancer, so I recommend that. Here is a link to many many Bellydance Instructional DVD's along with great reviews. This website is amazing and can give you a whole heap of information on bellydance. http://www.shira.net/videocent er-instruct.htm
Is the dance done by shakiracalled as belly dance? What cani do to make my hip flexiblelike hers?
Should belly dance be taught from childhodd or can a teenager also learn?should it be learnt under the supervision of expert or from net?If it can be learnt from net plz give me the site address plz.Bye.
Ask a professional belly dance performer and she will tell you Shakira is not doing "real" belly dancing. Personally, I think that's a bit harsh. Shakira may not do the complicated moves, but she can certainly shake it! You can start belly dance at any age. I know several professional dancers who didn't even start dancing until they were adults - so starting as a teenager means you're ahead of the game. Actually it's not your hips that need to be flexible - you move your hips by using your knees, leg muscles and waist muscles. It's well worth going to a couple of classes if you can - that will make sure you get started on the right track. After that, there are plenty of DVD's to choose from. Sirena http://bellydanceoz.com
