Pain after bartholins cyst I had my bartholins cyst
lanced on the 28th December,
recovery was fine, pain
disappeared instantly,
stitches disappeared after 2
and a half weeks and the nurse
advised I could have sex after
10 to 14 days. I left it until
last week (near enough a
month) before I slept with my
boyfriend again but my god did
it hurt when we tried. I
thought maybe it was a one off
- I had surgery after all,
then last night we tried again
and it was so painful I had to
stop and its still painful
today. I was wondering if
anyone knew how long this
would last and if it will ever
go away? (am 22)

It is possible that you could be dealing with something called vulvodynia (pain of the external genital area called the vulva) but because of how many times you have tried I would recommend getting in touch with your doctor as well to see what they say. |

Bartholins Cyst Hurts more I have had a Bartholins Cyst
for about 3-4 mths now. My
gyno has had me on several
high anti biotics to get rid
of it. Nothing is working. It
is still not ready to be
drained. My Gyno believes that
I may want to consider getting
the surgery done to remove my
glands that cause cysts. Has
anyone had this done? Also, it
tends to hurt more when I have
my period, can anyone relate?
It sucks cause its
uncomfortable and I cant have
sex while i have it.

I have had a couple of those that came open on their own with warm baths and they are very, very painful. I read about some of the procedures used to drain them and stop recurrence and if it has been that long, you might be wise to consider one of them. |

what time of anaesthesia is |
|

It will probably be Novocaine or Lidocaine. Deeper anesthesia is not necessary. A local will do just fine. That's what I had when I had a Bartholin's a few years ago. The Novocaine stung a little but other than that, I didn't feel a thing. EMT |

normal? and so im not sure
whether it still has a bump
cause its still fresh from
being popped or its not still
drained all the way..
reallyyyy tried draining it
all the way. what do i do
next??? im worried. but a good
thing its not painful anymore.
but im still going to try sitz
bath.. hopefully it'll be gone
forever. bleghck. a major

Yeah, I hear ya! I had one myself this past September. Mine was extremely painful and was probably half the size of yours. After a shot of meds and painkillers I started feeling a little better. But with these things it just takes time for them to heal. I don't think you really need to do much. A sitz bath won't hurt at all from what I understand. My doctor told me to keep doing the prescription and sitz baths until it healed. I remember having the bump with no pain, so I think your ok. Mine's been gone since it healed. Hope this helps! |

The catheter may fall out on its own, it is there for a reason, and that is to keep the gland opening from sealing up and becoming reinfected. You will experience discomfort the entire time the catheter is in place, so it's best to alter the way you sit down and/or sit on a small pillow for a while. I know- it feels like you're sitting on a rusty nail right now, but depending on how fast you heal there's a good chance it may fall out by itself. And no, it doesn't hurt to have it removed. |
