How would you clean a cowboy My neighbor has a felt cowboy
hat that has a stain on it.
What could you use to remove
the stain? He doesn't want to
dry clean it.

Being a Texas gal, I have lots of cowboy hats. This is what I do to keep them looking their best: Loosen dirt and dust with a soft brush, gently brushing in the same counterclockwise direction around the crown and the brim. Use a light touch when cleaning felt: Scrubbing can leave bald spots on the hat. If you find grease spots, pat a bit of cornstarch over the area and let sit for several hours or until the grease is absorbed, then brush off. To erase rain spots on a light tan hat, try a felt-cleaning sponge (sold at hat stores). Store the hat upside down on its crown in a hat box, so the brim doesn't flatten. Never place a hat near a radiator or lamp -- excessive heat can shrink the sweatband. |

Any ideas on how to decorate My son is 10 but he likes
cowboy stuff. He has a cowboy
hat, clothes, and a rope. Any
ideas on how to tie in a
cowboy theme into his bedroom.
I don't want anything too
baby-ish. Something he can
grow into his teenage years.
Also, what paint colors would
look good with this theme?

Think denim and bandanas. Bedding with those types of fabric would look good, and would age well. A denim colored comforter with red bandana pillows, for example. A throw with large spots (that look like a paint horse) would be a nice touch. If you're into textured paint, there's a great technique that produces a linen finish (using a wallpaper brush). If you do one wall in a lighter blue and then a darker blue over it, the brush will expose hints of the lighter color beneath and it will look like denim. For a really inexpensive way to display the hat and rope, hang a couple of decorative hooks (the kind that screw into the wall). Look for something that's weathered metal or wrought iron. You can find them at your local hardware store for a couple of bucks. Watch for old cowboy boots and hats at resale shops or rummage sales - with an inexpensive lamp kit, you could make a lamp with the boots for the base and the hat as a shade. Every cowboy needs a horse, or at least a horseshoe. It should be hung above his door like a U (not upside down). The superstition is that this way the luck doesn't run out. |

What is a company that makes I am looking to buy some
cowboy boots with the pointy
toe. I am in college so they
also need to be comfortable to
walk in. I need to know what
would be a good type of boot
and a good company that makes
them. I want them to be just
regular cow or calf leather.

Ariat brand is comfortable from the start, and sold at a western store around $80.00 to $100.00 or so. |

How about a cowboy boot? I made this cake for my son's birthday a few years ago and you don't need a special pan - a regular 9" x 13" sheet cake pan is all you need! http://www.tasteofhome.com/Rec ipes/Cowboy-Boot-Cake |
