Is it safe to file for divorce online?
I found the Oklahoma Divorce Online web site. It is only 198 dollars to file through them...plus my court costs here in my county. I have the money and would like to start the process. It seems easy to do from home. Is this a smart move or should I just go get the papers and do it myself by hand? if so...where do I go to get the papers? My county clerks office gave me NO information on Divorce. They couldn't even point me in the right direction!
call the civil division at your county courthouse. They handle the divorces.
You don't always need a lawyer, its a common misconception. You only need a lawyer if its a contested divorce. I used an online document prep company. I filled out the questionnaire they gave me, and their paralegals prepared my divorce papers for me. I then filed them and served a copy to my spouse and finished the process. It went quite smoothly and would recommend it.
