How can you find out what car A friend of mine had their
parked car damaged by a driver
and the person that did it is
not willing to give out their
insurance information. There
was a police report and
unfortunately the insurance
information was not captured.
Is there any ways to find out
what insurance company a
person has? Maybe through the
DMV or alternative? I realize
they may not have insurance
but it still would be worth to
find out. The damaged car only
has liability insurance.

Your friend has two options. Sue in small claims court the person who damaged the car. Have the claim subroggated by the friend's insurance. I would start with this option. Usually this falls under the uninsured motorist coverage, and usually has a $300 deductible. Regards, Dan |

The friends insurance company may be able to get the info even tho there was only liability coverage. Seems they should help their customer as a courtesy to their insured. Wouldn't hurt to ask |

The only way to find out what insurance the person carries is one.... if you have a license plate #...which you dooo... u would need to go to the police station... they are the only people that can get that.. and if they don't have insurance your out of luck.. Also, a good resource is... http://insurance.deal4-you.com Best of luck to you. |
