How can you encourage rabbits When we bought out first
rabbit we were told that
rabbits are very social. Today
I bought another rabbit as
company for the first, and all
they have done is fight. Is
there anything we can do to
help them get along?

if they're both males, then unless they were raised together they won't get along. 2 females, it's possible, but you would have to get them used to each other by putting the cages close by, and then having them out together supervised incase they fight. i have 2 male mini rex rabbits, in the same cage, but they're brothers. and sometimes i want to separate them, they hump each other like nuts..and what a mess they've been making.. |

if you have 2 cages, put one in either one and put the cages right next to each other with no gap between them. or getting them used to each other's scent but swapping cages with them. if you don't have two cages then you can still do my second idea, put the first rabbit into a large cardboard box and your new rqabbit in the cage, then swap. also other distractions like rabbit toys and salt licks. you can always get one desexed or something to calm him down |

Set an example, get a toy rabbit and rip the head off of it in front of them and then politely say "If you don't get along this is what's going to happen to you". Good luck. |

its a slow process, but its easier if both rabbits are fixed or young. This is the easiest. First of all, don't do it the way you are doing it now. Check them both for injuries, wash + disinfect with Listerine. No bandages, they take them off + nothing should be on them tight it can cut off their circulation. I found a link for you to read up on the whole proceedure. Hang onto it + believe what it says. Rabbits are somewhat like a cat. Cats only do something if they feel like it, rabbits are the same, except you can train them by feeding them lol. this site says you could place cages close together. Make sure they aren't too close + supervise it because one can slash their paw out + cut the other. Happened to one of mine. |

for one it depends on if they are male and female or two females or two males. if male and female you are looking at breeding and you DONT want them kept together if the same sex they would have to be put together right from the get go like from five weeks of age when you can remove them from the mothers cage. if not they will always fight even if they seem to get along for a short time there will always be fighting. rabbits really are not social a female will fight to the death to keep HER area clear of other females when she is breeding ready the females do not even let males in HER area they will kill them ready to breed or not they go looking for the males. when you breed rabbits you either put the doe (female) in the bucks (male) cage or put them both into a 3rd nutral cage. even if they are fixed they will fight it is how rabbits are |
