Why did my priest say to stay i'm at church one day, then
the priest said "stay away
from jehovahs witnesses" but
why. They seem like nice

The Watchtower organization teaches it's followers a very differant Jesus then the one history and the Bible proclaim. Ask the JW's "Who is Jesus exactly?" And you will understand why your Priest told you to stay away. |

Coz every religion claims to be the true one. JWs believe for some reason that Michael is Jesus...that usually upsets every other religion except for the like minded organisation Mormons who believe he was a regular guy. I agree - stay away...but from all religion. |

Probably because of their false doctrines that he does not want you to become entangled in or discouraged by.The Jehova`s witnesses have many doctrines that are opposite of what Jesus taught.If you`re young in The Lord,you need to be careful what you hear until you are stronger. |

He should have told you to stay away from religion entirely. Religion isn't a requirement to have belief in or Love for God. He forgot to tell you that part as well. |

Because they are the competition. Realise that religion is the biggest industry in the world and your pastor is competing for tither bucks, He does not want any of his money stream diverted to the opposition. |

Because if you knew enough Bible to handle yourself with the JWs, then you'd also know enough Bible to leave your current denomination for a Bible believing church. Your priest knows that the JWs know more than you and that they'd easily school you. The reason is that your current denomination doesn't teach you any Bible, and your priest knows it. It's like a relationship with an abusive partner. Your denomination knows that if you're stupid enough to stay with them, then you'd be dumb enough to fall for the JWs BS too. |

Jehovah's Witnesses are, indeed, 'nice people'. They are very nice, in fact. They are sincere and very enthusiastic and seem to know a great deal about the Bible. They are very active in (for want of a more precise phrase) sheep-stealing. That means they try to persuade people who already belong to a church or any faith whatsoever, to leave it and join themselves. They equally try to get agnostics converted but they have the greatest success with people who are respectful of the Bible but who are biblically illiterate. Their apparent wizardry in jumping from one verse to another impresses those who don't understand the context of passages quoted from. Your priest could tell you why he advised you to stay away from them. Have you asked him for details? Can you not just pick up the phone and ask him? We can only tell you why WE would agree with his advice! In a nutshell, the religion was only formed in the late 1800s, broke away completely from orthodox Christianity by the 1920s and now fights tooth and nail against it, professing to be the only religion God is blessing today, and that to survive the imminent battle of Armageddon you must renounce your religion and join them. You should ask him why. I am a Christian, one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Often when I see people comment on why my beliefs are wrong, it's based on incorrect information. In reference to one of the answers, Jesus is the Only begotten son of the Almighty. |

Your priest doesn't want you to learn the truth about what the Bible really teaches. His concern is for losing you as a money-donating member of the congregation, and that you would slip out of his grasp as he continues to teach untruths from his pulpit. (Like some of the idiots giving you comments saying "they're a cult", your priest will give you reasons (if you ask him) that are not true, in order to keep you around. It's not your spiritual interests he has at heart, it's the congregation's financial interests.) |

Because he wants you to say in his church. He knows that many people come to us with questions from the bible, and we answer them. Then when they like what they're learning they leave their former church. |

Because he does not want Jehovah's Witnesses to tell you how to recognize false religion for fear he might lose you. False religion is steeped in PAGANISM, SPIRITISM, DOCTRINES OF DEMONS, IDOLATRY, MURDERS, DIVISIVENESS, RELIGIOUS SACRILEGE, RELIGIOUS HYPOCRISY, ETC. I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. |

I remember that one time a friend of mine asked the same question and the priest told him to stay away because they use the bible. Dont believe everything you hear on here many people just like bashing on the witness because they are ignorant. Every priest says to stay away from us because its like their tradition they know that they can not support their answers with the bible like we can. Notice how everyone on here claims we are wrong about our beliefs but they cant prove it they just insult and spread lies. Try to get in contact with a jw and see for your self what the truth is. Also people on here dont try to convince you that their religion is better.they dont try to show you a better way because it does not exist. What mean people at least we dont go around insulting people telling them they are wrong. What a lack of respect for ones beliefs. For all you haters show me a better way to serve Jehovah and then we will see |

Well I am a JW, a preacher. But I won't tell u to stay away from priests ;-) I see no good reason why he would say that. Probably because what we believe is different from what he does. Don't this sound funny to you when Priest tell you stay away from Jehovah's Witnesses? Ask him, if he know about what Jesus taught people not to judge? You need open your eyes. I am sorry your Priest is wrong for that. |

Most likely because he doesn't know anything about Jehovah's Witnesses. Many of the people right here on yahoo answers say the same thing, but they know very little about them. I've received emails from people here telling me that Jehovah's Witnesses preach a false gospel, but never tell me what the true gospel is. Basically their position is "Any church is ok, except Jehovah's Witnesses, but I don't really know why that's the case, but it's probably because that's what my pastor told me". They never show from a scriptural perspective why they feel Jehovah's Witnesses are wrong. This scripture pretty much sums it up: (John 15:17-19) If YOU were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because YOU are no part of the world, but I have chosen YOU out of the world, on this account the world hates YOU. |

people, for whatever reason, just don't seem o like us. mostly, i find, is because they know nothing about us people on here will call us all sort of things. just don't listen. i would like to emphasize we are NOT a cult. and we ARE christian we are bible studdon't, we dont just read the bible, we study it. and apply it to our daily lives here is the honest truth, we want to teach other people about the bible, and what it really teaches ask me any question, and i will answer it with scriptures, from any bible translation you want me to. andAdditionaladitional background research. you are more than welcome to e-mail me and ask me anything :) |
