Questions/Answers
Why do people describe the National Socialist German Workers Party as the "Nazi" Party?
Doesn't it make more sense to call them by their proper name, or at least to call them the National Socialist Party?
Because that's what it is. Know German?
It's what they went by. Nazi is actually an abbreviation of the full party name in German. Also, they weren't really socialist, so calling them by their full name would be misleading.
I think it's from the German abbreviation of the words, or acronym, or how it sounded in German. I don't know. But everybody in the world who ever studied history knows what "Nazi' means and some don't know the real term. And National Socialist Party is a lot longer, if you are doing a report or something, Nazi is just a lot faster. In school it might be a good idea to say what Nazi means at first, but then it would be OK, I think to use the acronym
Because Nazionale Sozialistische Deutsche Arbeiters Partei is kind of long.
It's an abbreviation: Nazionale Sozialistische Deutsche Arbeiter Partei NAZI -- Got it?
