Story help; What sort of trees are there in flanders fields?
I am writing a story set in the battle fields (flanders fields) in france and was wondering if any of you know what sort/type of trees are there, if any? (random question but i am describing setting; yes i know there are poppies there!) thank you!! note to celticchip73; and good researchers get there information from different sources.
For many years after WWI no trees grew there at all ... but the poppies did. Hence the poem! Sorry I don't know more. Perhaps you'll get an answer from a Dutch or Belgian person.
Spruce is/was common as well as Beech and Oak.
I know that all the trees and buildings there were destroyed but idk what kind of trees i'm gonna try and find out
There is a very moving shot of Flanders Fields in the final scene in the last episode of Blackadder Goes Forth. Perhaps you can identify the trees from this video.
A good writer does his or her own research. Also good writers write about things they know about. Please take this into consideration.
