E-cards vs Paper cards?
Are e-cards just as
appropriate as paper cards for
birthdays and holidays? Would
it be just as meaningful to
you if you recieved only an
e-card intead of a paper card?
or should I send a paper card
as well?
I like the e-card myself.
There are a lot of really
entertaining ones out there
and it is better for the
enviroment. I'm interested in
what other's views are on
this. Thanks!!!

E-cards are getting better, and they are great if you're like me and forget someone dear to you until the last minute)) |

I like paper better, it is more personal, more romantic. It is special. un like e-cards, you read or open them, and then never give two thoughts about it again.. Paper cards you keep in your "memory box" or drawer and read once every couple of years just to bring back memories. for years to come. Even seeng the senders' handwriting is fun. |

I would rather have a paper card. I think that people have gotten so wrapped up in the convenience of e-mail and e-cards that we have forgotten how personal a hand written note or a mailed card can be. I think a paper card shows that you put thought, time, money and care into your greeting. |

Cards are more meaningful to me when someone writes something meaningful on them, either ecard or paper. I like ecards myself, but when I give paper cards to loved ones, I give blank cards and fill them in myself. If the occasion is one where people tend to keep the cards or you know the person is sentimental, then paper is probably preferable, but if you like ecards, be true to yourself and send them whenever you like! |

The e-card is fun and entertaining. What I do is I send an e-card if it is someone under 30 or someone over 30 that would appreciate it and send a paper one as well. It is proper to send a handwritten card on a holiday or on an important occasion. A phone call, an e-mail, e-card, etc. is still not considered proper. Give it 10-20 years and it will be more mainstream. In the meantime, you could purchase cards printed on recycled paper, or get a certificate/card from an organization saying that you planted a tree in their name. That would make a lovely gift as well. |

I think that E-Cards are a nice secondary card to send to someone...but I would not just send that, unless I totally forgot about the holiday/birthday/etc. My husband only sent me an E-Card for my birthday last year..I was kindof disappointed. I think for birthdays and maybe Christmas you should give your SO's and immediate family paper cards. For every other holiday and everyone else during Christmas, an E-Card is great. |

To me, it depends on the recipient. I never send an e-card for my wife's birthday [unless it's in addition to a paper card], to my brothers and friends, it's just fine. As far as being more 'meaningful...I think it all depends upon what you write. If you put a heartfelt message into an e-card, I think that's more meaningful that just scribbling your name onto a paper card. PS My wife has no problem with non-handwritten notes...because my handwriting is atrocious! :O |
