Questions/Answers
Should bishop Richard Williamson be allowed to minister to others?
He is the Roman Catholic bishop who has just been expelled from Argentina for denying the holocaust and questioning the existence of the gas chambers. Is fit to be a bishop?
Not really.
No. He obviously lives in denial at the least and in his own little world apart from reality at the worst. He sounds dangerous.
Why was he expelled for telling the truth?
I have to question his intelligence. I'm all for free speech and believing what you want. But he's a public figure and he goes and says something that he knows is going to anger people? Not smart at all.
I find it rather ironic how some "nazis" bring the "Nazi" out in all of us... Let's stamp out freedom of speech and thought based on some people's horrid beliefs.
Is anyone fit to be a Bishop?
noone should be allowed to minister. its cultism at its finest.
Of course he should be able to minister to others, whether one agrees with his views or not is irrelevant. Why should thoughts and freedom of expression be Standardised? that's Orwellian 1984 territory. On that point I know many people who deny the Irish Famine and the effects of economic policy had on the deaths of over a Million Irish people,I don't see the Irish Government expelling or jailing anybody. Does the alleged Jewish Holocaust have authority over every human mass tragedy?
If I was to judge who I consider fit then many wouldn't be bishops He's guilty of holocaust denial whilst many are bigots Free speech is awesome but that doesn't mean immunity if you lie or spread hatred or deny history everyone mentions free speech but they aren't interested in the people who get hurt by bigotry or lies
Appoint him the Catholic Bishop of the nearest town to Auschwicz and then let him continue to deny the holocaust!!!
allowed? ..... is Adolf back already o O You should embrace the rights to free speach, it lets you know where you and others stand.
The Pope seems to like those that deny the Holocaust since although he says it is wrong to do so he protects the very people that do so!! This is just like the catholic priest pedophile problem - until the church deals with it sensibly it is going to cause huge damage!!
No he shouldn't
The Bible clearly tells us there will always be false teachers. We might not be able to stop them, however, we do not have to follow or even listen to people that give false teachings. Regardless of if those teachings are biblical, historical or anything else. Should he continue to be a catholic bishop? If he is teaching anything that is false then my opinion is … no he should not be able to continue to be a bishop. In my opinion, being a bishop, by the nature of the position carries a different level of responsibility and thus a person in that position is (or should be) held far more accountable in order to maintain that position. As for should he be allowed to continue to say such things (from outside the church), when a person makes statements like: "not one Jew killed in the gas chambers" and that Hitler was "liberating Germany from [Jewish] control." See: Thomas Sparks Quotes SSPX Bishop Richard Williamson On "The Jews". also see: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/ame ricas/7908660.stm One has to start questioning the person’s grasp of reality and if is it ok for him to be left alone. May Our Creator watch over you and your family.
The Pope recently lifted the excommunication of the group to which Williamson belongs, but he did not restore the man's faculties as a bishop.
